Geckos are known for their remarkable climbing ability, primarily thanks to their special adhesive feet. Inspired by these characteristics, gecko-like robots have been developed for high-risk tasks such as search and rescue operations. While most research has focused on the adhesion of the feet, this study investigates the important role of the tail in improving climbing performance. Using simulations and experiments, the researchers developed a dynamic climbing model and a force measurement platform to evaluate the effects of the tail. The results show that the tail significantly improves the robot's balance, stability, and agility, providing valuable insights for the design and optimization of future climbing robots.
