Robotic Couture

As part of the theme period The Robots Are Coming, robotics can be experienced throughout Delft in 2026. One of the eye-catchers is the work of internationally renowned Dutch FashionTech designer Anouk Wipprecht.

She is known worldwide for her futuristic, interactive designs that merge fashion, robotics and technology. Her creations are not ordinary dresses, but creations that react to their environment, biometric data and human proximity.
With her work, Wipprecht pushes the boundaries between fashion and robotics, including the iconic Spider Dress, a dress with sensors and mechanical "spider arms" that move when someone gets too close, as a statement about personal space. With the playful Robotic Cocktail Dress, she proves that technology can also be light and surprising, this dress can actually serve cocktails!

At the initiative of Delft Marketing, a selection of its spectacular designs can be seen as a display window in the Huis van Delft. This special display window exhibition can be viewed from outside and is accessible day and night to passers-by free of charge.

We are Delft

In the heart of Delft, where history meets the future, visual artist René Jacobs launched "We are Delft", a tribute to the people of Delft and a celebration of diversity and inclusiveness.

Inspired by Vermeer's iconic painting "View of Delft", René Jacobs created a work of art consisting of 110,851 small dolls, the population of Delft on 15 December 2025 (Johannes Vermeer's 350th strength day). The aim was to create a work of art that celebrates the beauty of Delft and the strength of its community. At a time when polarisation threatens to drive us apart, this project is a powerful symbol of cooperation and togetherness.

On 15 December 2025, the artwork was unveiled at the Vermeer Centrum Delft on Voldersgracht, where it has been on display ever since. Delft Marketing took care of the marketing.

Vermeer Recycle

In 2023, Delft Marketing launched the Discover Vermeer's Delft campaign, enriching the city with modern photographic interpretations of Vermeer's iconic paintings, such as 'Girls with Pearl', captured by photographer Caroline Sikkenk.

After the success of the campaign, the idea arose to give the used flag fabric a new life. In collaboration with sewing workshop Stichting Stunt in Delft, known for their skill in upcycling, cool bags were made from it. In addition, six contemporary fashion designers transformed the banners into fantastic designs.

Delft Marketing and the Vermeer Centrum Delft were the initiators of the special Vermeer Recycle Project.

Toilet accessibility

Delft chooses to be a welcoming and inclusive city and toilet accessibility is an important part of that.

To achieve this, it is necessary to designate enough places in the city where visitors can use the toilet.

In this way, we create a better experience for our residents and visitors, making Delft even more attractive to visit, whether for a visit to a tourist attraction, fun shopping or a visit to Delft's catering establishments and, of course, to stay in Delft.
