1. The Markt
Every Thursday since the 12th century, Delft's market square has come alive with the commodity market. If you like good food, you should definitely take a spin around this markt. Here you will find many fresh products such as, fruit & vegetables, flowers and local delicacies, think delicious Italian rolls, Greek delicacies or Dutch cheese. The whole world comes together here.
The churches and buildings surrounding the market square create a historic and lively atmosphere. Besides the weekly markt, fun events are also organised regularly. From the Delft Blues, Jazz Festival and Koningsdag to cosy open-air concerts in summer and the Sinterklaas parade and Lights Evening in winter.

2. The churches of Delft
Delft has a number of unusual churches scattered throughout the city. The Nieuwe Kerk is very famous, with its tower that you can see from afar. Members of the royal family are buried here, including William of Orange, and you can climb the tower for a great view.
The Oude Kerk, also known as 'Scheve Jan', is crooked because of the moat on which it was built. The church is even leaner than the tower of Pisa! It is Delft's oldest church, with tombs of important Dutchmen such as Johannes Vermeer and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek.

3. Cosy catering squares
Delft has cosy catering squares that are ideal for a delicious bite to eat or a nice drink. De Beestenmarkt is the busiest and most famous square, surrounded by lively terraces. 4. Oostpoort
The Oostpoort is the only remaining city gate of the original eight that Delft once knew. Dating back to 1400, this impressive monument was part of the medieval city walls and served as the entrance gate on the east side of the city. Unfortunately, the other city gates were demolished in the 19th century, making the Oostpoort a unique witness to Delft's rich past.
The Oostpoort consists of a land gate and a water gate, connected by remnants of the city wall. The high walls, towers and gates played a crucial role in defending Delft, a city of great importance to Dutch trade at the time. This was also the reason why William of Orange chose Delft as his residence in 1572. The surrounding greenery and picturesque canals make this place a popular destination for visitors and residents alike.

5. City Hall
Delft's City Hall, located on the lively Markt, is known for its beautiful and historic architecture. Built in the 16th century, the City Hall got its current characteristic look in the 17th century. The beautifully decorated facade with sculptures and the imposing tower towering over the city make the city hall a real gem.

6. Molen de Roos

Every week, De Roos grinds organic grain into flour on the power of the wind.
