Hook of Holland

Heading towards Rotterdam, you will find the beach at Hoek van Holland. Known for its maritime character, Hoek van Holland offers another completely different beach experience.

On the 3.5 km long sandy beach, it's great fun there. That used to be different when the Germans used the beach as a defence line. The German bunkers are still there and can be visited. You can also admire the impressive shipping activities in the port of Rotterdam. The wide beach and lively promenade make it an ideal destination for a day full of variety.

By car, Hoek van Holland is easily accessible from Delft in about 30 minutes.

Scheveningen and Kijkduin

Scheveningen is probably the best-known Dutch seaside resort. The beach has a long promenade with plenty of cosy eateries and (covered) shops. On the famous Scheveningen pier, the Ferris wheel offers great views over The Hague. You can also bungee jump above the sea here.

Tip: tram line 1 takes you straight to the beach from Delft without changing trains.

Slightly quieter is Kijkduin. A charming seaside resort that is perfect for families. With its wide beaches, cosy beach pavilions and various activities for children, it is a great place for a day out. Build sandcastles with the kids or take a long beach walk along the coastline.

By car, you can reach Kijkduin in about 30 minutes from Delft.
