Getting to Delft - and the most convenient way to travel around

Train, tram, car or bike? Everything you need to know about transport to and in Delft

Delft is ideally located between Rotterdam and The Hague, making it easily accessible from almost every direction. Whether you travel by train, car, bike or tram: you will be in the historic city centre in no time.

By train: quick and central

Delft has a modern train station right in the city centre. From Rotterdam and The Hague, you can travel to Delft in just 12 minutes. There are direct connections to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden and Schiphol Airport, among others. From Delft station, you can walk to the Markt and other sights in 5 minutes.

By tram or bus

From The Hague and Rotterdam, tram 1 (HTM) goes directly to Delft. It stops at the station and at the edge of the city centre. Various EBS and RET buses also run from surrounding towns, including Rijswijk, Nootdorp, Schipluiden and Zoetermeer.

By car: parking on the edge of the centre

Coming by car? Then follow the signs to one of the car parks such as Phoenixgarage or Marktgarage. These are at walking distance from the city centre. Tip: park inexpensively at P+R area Tanthof and continue your journey by tram or bus. Please note! The centre of Delft is car-low. Visitors cannot come or park here by car. Would you like to drop off someone in the centre who has difficulty walking? Then you can apply online for a day exemption. If you drive into the city centre without dispensation, you will be fined.

By bicycle

Delft is a real cycling city. If you are from the area, cycling is often the fastest and nicest way to reach the centre. There are ample (free) bicycle parking facilities, including at Delft Station, Oude Langendijk and Markt.
