Robot Ai-Da
Ai-Da. Oxford. UK
Recently, the human creative process was challenged by a British artist-android called Ai-Da. Ai-Da was conceived by gallery owner Aidan Meller and is named after Ada Lovelace, a 19th-century mathematician. Ai-Da is the world’s first ultra-realistic humanoid robot capable of creating drawings, paintings and sculptures. The robot attracted international attention when she proved capable of drawing people from life using a pencil, with the aid of her bionic hand and cameras in her eyes. In 2024, Ai-Da’s artwork ‘AI God’ was auctioned at Sotheby’s for $1.1 million, setting an all-time record for art created by a robotic artist.
