Android U was designed by researchers at the Ishiguro Laboratory at Osaka University, led by the Japanese robotics expert Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro. ‘U’ is a fully autonomous conversational robot developed for a popular Japanese website and a popular streaming platform. Thanks to the AI installed in ‘U’, she can communicate independently with people via text. The more she communicates with users, the more naturally she will learn to speak. The robot has been designed with an almost human depth of character, blurring the line between machine and soul.
