Tip from local Chelsey

"My number one tip in Delft is San Marco! The food never disappoints and their pizzas... These are freshly prepared in a stone oven from Italy. I'm already getting an appetite for them now that I'm writing this. It is very easy to reach from the Zuidpoort Car Park and from there you can walk nicely into the city centre."

Tips for the culinary connoisseur

  1. Know where to book - Some restaurants don't have reservations, but are always busy! If you want to get a spot and dine in style, come just before or after rush hour...

  1. Bear waiting times in mind at weekends - Want to eat out spontaneously and haven't made a reservation? Then expect waiting times. But believe me, the dishes are worth the wait.

Delicious lunch in Delft
  1. Terrace weather - When it is terrace weather in the Netherlands, all the terraces are occupied. Sometimes it pays to grab one of the squares outside the city centre, such as the Doelenplein.

  1. Picnics & parks - Delft is also a great place for a picnic along the Schie. During rowing season, you can see the clubs rowing along fanatically.

  1. Specialities - Delft has a number of restaurants serving specialities. Check out the Delfts Brouwhuis if you like special beers and don't forget to order Bavarian Pretzels with cheese sauce.
