Commentator Marijke

 

My name is Marijke Maes and I am 23 years old. I come from Den Hoorn, a village next to Delft, but have been in the city all my life. I went to secondary school in Delft, have been playing hockey at Ring Pass Delft since I was six and often visit shops or pavement cafes there. As it is only a 10-minute bike ride for me, I go up and down in no time. Almost all my friends also grew up in or around Delft, so this is often the place where we meet up. I still live with my parents, but would like to move out, so Delft is the city where I am looking for a nice place to live.

Discover De Gist

My UITblinker location in Delft is café De Gist, especially the terrace. This is my favourite location in Delft, because of the lovely terrace and the delicious snacks and drinks served there. I can really enjoy having a drink with my friends, and De Gist is the perfect place for that. The menu consists of many tasty drinks, as well as many different snacks that you can share with each other. In summer, the sun shines brightly on De Gist's terrace, so for me this is THE place to enjoy the sunshine ;) The sun still shines here in the evening too, and otherwise it is always very cosy inside too. During events such as the European Championships, all matches are broadcast inside and there are rooms that can be rented out for parties. In short, a very cosy place where it is always buzzing. People should therefore come to De Gist because it serves many delicious snacks and drinks. It is the place to catch up with your friends or family and enjoy the sunshine or the cosiness inside the café.

  • The Doelenplein

    I think the Doelenplein is the cosiest square in Delft. You can enjoy a delicious meal at Hanno's or a drink in the sun in LEFs beach chairs. Really enjoy it.

  • Jazz Festival Delft

    During the Jazz Festival Delft, the city is filled with lots of fun and music. That's why I really enjoy walking around Delft then!

  • The Brew Square

    The Brouwplein is always fun! They organise lots of fun events here, such as Brouwplein Open Air, but it's also one big party during Koningsdag. You can also enjoy a delicious Delft beer here.
