I am Maaike Zwart, 36 years old and currently Alderman for Sustainability, Work and Income and Economy in our beautiful city. I love how history and innovation come together everywhere in Delft: that makes the city not only romantic but also very inspiring. I enjoy spending my free time with my husband and two children, exploring Delft and its surroundings!

Discover the Cable District

The Kabeldistrict is my favourite location, because I find it one of the most surprising pieces of city in Delft. This is the site of the former Dutch Cable Factory. On the outside, you first see a gigantic hall with all kinds of doors. You can hardly imagine what happens behind it, because behind each door you enter a whole new world! Theatre HAL015 is also located here: a beautiful place with super fun programming. You can paddle, bolder and/or have a beer at de Koperen Kat in the Cable District. It's also now home to many new companies doing everything from developing sustainable building materials to building components for quantum computers. And there is art to see, for example in Street Art Alley, where the artworks change every few months. And in the future, a whole new city district will rise on this spot: so this is a piece of city that's pretty much on the move! So if you want to be surprised in your own city, OR if you just want to have a really fun evening, a visit to the Cable District is highly recommended!
