Doelenplein - summer shopping route
Walk out of Choorstraat and turn left towards Doelenplein.
We walk out of the Choorstraat and turn left towards the Doelenplein. The atmosphere here is relaxed, the terraces are invitingly ready, and the smells from the kitchens are doing their work. Time for a break, then.
LEF Restaurant & Bar is a real favourite here, with me and many a student. You can eat French classics, but just as easily a portion of bitterballen with a good glass of wine. Nice and laid-back.
If you prefer something different, HANNO and GAIA are also located on the square and are perfect for lunch, drinks or dinner in the sun. From comfort food to world dishes, there is something tasty for everyone here.

When we're charged up (and we are), walk from Doelenplein left onto Verwersdijk towards Vrouwjuttenland. But beware: don't walk too fast here, because halfway down is the too-cute Steen Papier Schaar. A little paradise full of handmade jewellery, cards and other pretties. All local, all made with love.
Once on the Vrouwjuttenland, you immediately feel the creative vibe of this street. First stop is Knaak & Smaak, a second-hand shop where you can either find something unique or finally hand in those clothes that deserve a second life.
A little further on is Andrea's Winkel, where I hang around as a rule. Whether you're looking for something to tinker with, fiddle with or just something cheerful for your home: this is the place to leave happy.
And then, for the sweet tooth among us: Les Gâteaux. Think savoury tarts, French delicacies and all handmade. Perfect to take away, or just eat straight away on a bench in the sun.
Still got energy left? Nice. More fun awaits. On to the next one!
