Huis van Meerten is housed in the former residence of the art and antiques collector Lambert van Meerten. The neo-Renaissance-style house stands on Oude Delft.
This Museum House of the collector and manufacturer Lambert van Meerten is a beautiful example of architecture around 1900. Lambert van Meerten was co-owner of the Delft Distillery, Yeast and Spirits Factory Van Meerten & Sons. He was an avid collector of building fragments, Delftware and furniture; a 19th-century 'connoisseur' with an interest in the 17th century. His collection grew to such an extent that the idea arose to build a house, where 'Old Dutch' interiors were to contain the collection.
