Oostpoort - Spot on HartjeDelft Route

Walk back across Vrouwenregt and cross the street. Go straight ahead and walk all the way to Oosteinde.

The Oostpoort is the only medieval city gate that still stands proudly today, which makes this location special. Built around the 15th century, this monument is a valuable piece of heritage and used to serve to protect the city.

These days, the building is used as a private residence and art gallery, but that doesn't mean the outside is not stunning to photograph. With its tall towers, picturesque windows and robust stone walls, it is already a beautiful subject in itself.

In addition, the gate offers a unique vista; you can catch the view of the Old and Nieuwe Kerk together through the gate, an image that beautifully sums up the essence of Delft.

Photographer Anne Hamers shows you exactly how best to capture such a vista.

Spot on HartjeDelft:
In our video series "Spot on HartjeDelft", photographer Anne Hamers takes you along the most photogenic spots in Delft. Not only does she show you where to stand, she also tells you exactly how to take such beautiful photos yourself.
Curious about the end result? Watch the video on @hartjedelft or @annehamers and see Anne in action!

Tip from Anne - Perspective:
"For a nice vista, take a low perspective, for example, bend your knees. Choose as large an aperture as possible so that everything is in focus. The aperture determines how much light comes in and how sharp the background is."
