28th lights evening Delft

Winter in Delft starts with one magical moment: Lichtjesavond. On Tuesday 9 December, the 28th edition lit up the city and marked the official start of Delft Verlicht. From the Markt to the canals, the recognisable winter atmosphere that Delft is so well known for immediately hung in the air.
During Lichtjesavond, the city lights up. Hundreds of lights colour the historic city centre, choirs and street theatre acts fill the squares and at the Lichtjesmarkt you will discover winter gifts and local delicacies. With a hot chocolate or mulled wine in your hand, this first winter evening immediately feels like the start of an atmospheric December month.

Delft Enlightened

Lichtjesavond kicks off Delft Verlicht, the winter period when Delft will be filled with light installations, art, music and warm encounters in the city centre for weeks on end. Over the coming weeks, discover light art, routes, performances and winter activities that will make the city shine in December.
