Delft in the spotlight in 'Thinking of Holland

On 15 September, Delft and The Hague will take centre stage in a special episode of the popular television programme *Denkend aan Holland* on Omroep MAX. In the programme, André van Duin, Janny van der Heijden and the ship’s dog Nhaan explore the rich history and unique charm of the ‘city of princes’, with the well-known presenters discovering both old traditions and modern innovations in Delft.

After a royal adventure in The Hague, André and Janny continue their journey on day two via De Vliet towards Delft. As well as Delft’s history, there is also a strong focus on the future. For instance, Janny and André learn how they can continue to produce new series of *Denkend aan Holland* in a future-proof way. Upon arriving in the city of Johannes Vermeer, there’s no escaping the painter. Janny and André immerse themselves completely in his world. This results in a proper fancy dress party, which even Nhaan has to join in with. There is one more thing that characterises the city: Delft Blue. Janny and André discover how the Netherlands’ most famous porcelain is made. After that, it’s time to leave Delft. After a short boat trip, the pair moor in the Zweth and bring the season to a regal close – looking back on their adventures whilst enjoying some orange liqueur and bitterballen.

*Thinking of Holland* is renowned for its affectionate portraits of Dutch landscapes and towns, and the choice of Delft as a location underlines the timeless appeal and beauty of this city.

The broadcast of *Denkend aan Holland* is an initiative by Delft Marketing and forms part of the strategy to showcase Delft not only as a historic city, but also as a creative and forward-looking one. Moreover, the broadcast timing is favourable. With an expected audience of around 1.5 million viewers, the city is expected to welcome extra visitors this autumn. The programme will be broadcast on Sunday 15 September at 8.25 pm on NPO1.
