Successful spring campaign!
With great pleasure, Michiel van der Schaaf shared the success story of the spring campaign at Omroep Delft last Monday. An initiative of the Delft residents' associations in collaboration with Platform Visitor Economy Delft Koninklijke Horeca Nederland - KHN, the Delft hotels and Delft Marketing.
No fewer than 100 bird houses and 100 insect hotels were available (free of charge) to Delft residents. This action is not only a celebration of love for nature, but also a tangible proof of our common commitment to a sustainable and liveable city.
What makes this action so special is its financing. In early 2023, at the request of the Delft hotel industry, an additional tourist tax increase was implemented. The aim? To invest extra in a balanced, robust and responsible visitor economy, with stay-at-home visitors contributing directly to a sustainably vital living environment for all Delft residents.
This unique model highlights our shared responsibility to preserve and improve our beautiful city. It shows that by working together, pushing boundaries and embracing creative solutions, we can really make a difference.
It is great to see that this action was so well received by the residents. They immediately went out to collect the bird houses and insect hotels. The campaign has now ended as they have all been used up.
We look forward to sharing and realising more inspiring initiatives in the future.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this spring Delft for Residents campaign! Together we are building a better future. #CreatingHistory #InDelft
P.s. The birdhouses are made by Ander Hout, which manufactures products from recycled wood.
