Spring cleaning starts unique movement for sustainable visit to Delft

A joint clean-up action in Delft city centre today marked the official launch of D'serve: a new initiative by the Platform Visitors Economy Delft that aims to encourage and reward sustainable visits to the city.

The festive kick-off took place in the presence of mayor Marja van Bijsterveldt, aldermen Maaike Zwart and Frank van Vliet, night mayor Leo Quack and dozens of entrepreneurs.

The launch took place during the annual spring clean-up, organised by Platform Bezoekerseconomie Delft, Delft Marketing and Clean Up All. In just one hour, more than 60 kilos of waste were collected by entrepreneurs, volunteers and involved Delfters - both on the streets and from the water.

D’serve rewards sustainable behaviour
Delft is the first city in the Netherlands to take targeted action to encourage visitors to make more conscious choices during their stay. For example, anyone who chooses a sustainable activity, helps keep the city clean or cycles to Delft can be rewarded via D’serve with a vegan lunch, local coffee, a shopping voucher or a discount on a boat tour.

"With D'serve, we are making sustainable behaviour both visible and attractive," states the Platform Bezoekerseconomie Delft. "We want to show that small choices can make a big difference - and that a hospitable city is also a green city."

About D’serve
D’serve is an initiative of the Delft Visitor Economy Platform, in collaboration with businesses, cultural institutions and the local council. The project aligns with Delft’s ambitions in the areas of sustainability and future-proof tourism.
