A playful and exciting way to discover the rich history of Delft with the children's treasure hunt 'The adventurers of Delft

Just before the start of the school holidays, Delft schoolchildren together with alderman Frank van Vliet gave the starting signal for 'The Adventurers of Delft'. In this new treasure hunt through Delft's city centre, children and their parents discover Delft's rich history in a playful and exciting way. The children's treasure hunt is now available from Erfgoed Delft and the VVV Tourist Office.

The idea for 'The Adventurers of Delft' came from creative maker Andrea van den Berg, was developed in collaboration with Erfgoed Delft and Delft Marketing and is supported by a grant from the creative makers scheme of the municipality of Delft.

With her initiative, Van den Berg wants to bring children into contact with well-known and less well-known people, places and stories from Delft's rich history. For instance, the scavenger hunt focuses on people from Delft such as Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, Pieter van Foreest, Johannes Vermeer and Petronella de Huyter, while focusing on works of art and historical locations such as the orphanage, the Koornmarkt and Museum Prinsenhof Delft.

The scavenger hunt starts at NS Station Delft and is available for €2.50 from the VVV in the station hall. Delft BSOs can contact Erfgoed Delft (onserfgoed@delft.nl) if they would like to receive the scavenger hunt for their summer holiday programme, after the summer the scavenger hunt will be distributed to Delft primary schools.
