But where do stories come from and how do you start finding your voice as a storyteller? How do you find your style as a writer and start shaping your stories into your dream projects?

Join local writer Heather Hurd for a 2-hour, English-language course that gives you a framework for getting started with writing. In this course, you’ll learn the basics of storytelling and some real tips for how to get started with creative writing. We’ll explore some of the more popular styles when it comes to writing, and you can decide whether you’re an organized, outline-style writer or a chaotic, seat-of-your-pants kind of storyteller. Both ways work; it’s all about embracing your creativity and giving it just enough shape to grow wings.

Bring your favorite writing tools, and you’ll have the chance to work through a few basic storytelling exercises with this small group. We’ll explore the key elements of fiction, talk about how to build your story, and learn a few different methods for building out a story.
