Anouk Wipprecht is internationally known for her iconic robotic couture: wearable machines that respond intuitively to their environment, biometric data and human proximity. Her works, including the Spider Dress, Smoke Dress, Robotic Cocktail Dress and Agent Unicorn, have been exhibited worldwide and are at the intersection of fashion, robotics, interaction design, challenging social discussion and questioning manners and intimacy. For more than two decades, it has been pushing the boundaries of #FashionTech, using the human body as a platform to explore how we coexist with intelligent systems.
Robotics has been an essential part of Anouk's world for more than 25 years. Her involvement extends not only to her own artistic and technological practice, but also to her work as a teacher, mentor and curator. She teaches and lectures worldwide. She works with engineers, designers, artists and researchers. In doing so, she emphasises critical thinking about technology, embodied interaction, ethics and human-machine relationships. An important part of her mission is to enthuse more girls and women about technology by making technology tangible, expressive and accessible.
As ambassador of The robots are coming, Anouk wants to contribute to strengthening the connection between the historic city centre of Delft and the high-tech developments of TU Delft and Innovation District Delft. She is committed to increasing visibility, curiosity and dialogue around robotics and innovation. Her passion lies not only in building robots, but also in talking about them: what do robots mean for our society, how do we design relationships with machines, and how can creativity shape technological futures?

During The robots are coming, Anouk's presence will be visible and tangible in the city. Several of her robotic dresses will be on display for several months in the shop window of the Huis van Delft, where visitors can experience wearable robotics as both art and research. In collaboration with Filmhuis Lumen , she is curating a robot movie weekend in the first week of May; where visitors are cordially invited to dress a little sci-fi.
Together with Teun Verkerk, Anouk is working to bring the internationally renowned RoboExotica festival to Delft in October, playfully introducing experimental robot culture to the city. From July, one of her new works will be on display in an Innovation Cube. She will also be involved in- and curate- workshops, lectures and exhibitions throughout the summer, giving robotics a permanent place within the cultural programme of The robots are coming.
