I am Eric Høssen and have been working in Delft as community manager at SCMD since October 2023. As a child, I visited my aunt in Delft almost every week and we also went to the Tattoo on the Markt every year. Later, I visited Delft regularly, but not the old city centre. Now that I am working in Delft again after a long time, it feels like a warm welcome.

Discover the Markt

At 120 by 50 metres, the Markt is one of the largest historic market squares in Europe.

Ever since the 12th century, Thursday has been Delft's big market day. Some 150 stalls can be found on the Markt between 9am and 5pm on that day, forming the Delftse warenmarkt. Around the Markt there are all kinds of terraces and catering establishments where you can sit down with a delicious lunch after walking around for a while. Fun events also regularly take place on the Markt.

Tip: ever wanted to see a markt from above? Then climb the tower of the Nieuwe Kerk and get an amazing view of the markt and the whole of Delft!
