Behind the old station building you'll find a hidden garden. Did you know that the little park can store as much as 350,000 litres of rainwater?

We are now in Park Spoorloos: the backyard of the monumental station building. You used to get on the train here. Now you can eat Italian food there, or enjoy the greenery on a bench.

For instance, the gravel is reminiscent of gravel under the train tracks. The path incorporates rails. And the pergola above the stairs was inspired by the train's overhead wires. Moreover, the old station platform roof has been preserved.

Flowers, bees, showers
Landscape architect Pia Kolfschoten explains: "We chose plants with a lot of variation in colour, leaves and flowering season. This has made it a very attractive little park, also for butterflies and bees." Underneath the park is a water buffer of no less than 350,000 litres. During big showers, rainwater is stored here. The greenery can use this again in dry periods.

Did you know that...
... the park is located on top of a bicycle shed? The wide tubes in the park have a double function. During the day, they let daylight into the bicycle shed. In the evening, the light from the shed gives a soft glow in the park.
