Our partners

IHE Delft Institute for Water Education

IHE Delft Institute for Water Education is an international institute dedicated to water education and research. Since its foundation in 1957, IHE Delft has trained more than 25,000 water professionals from over 190 countries. With this knowledge and expertise, the institute contributes to a world where water is better managed.

An important part of IHE Delft is the theme of clean drinking water. Clean water is essential for good health and plays an important role in personal hygiene and food preparation. Yet more than 2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water. Many people rely on contaminated water on a daily basis, which increases the risk of disease and hinders social and economic development.

Through education and research, IHE Delft works on solutions to these challenges and contributes to better water management worldwide.

Delft4globalgoals

Delft4GlobalGoals is a local network committed to the United Nations' seventeen Sustainable Development Goals. These goals form a global agenda to make the world (and also Delft) more sustainable, fair and inclusive by 2030.

The initiative originated in 2020 from a collaboration between several Delft organisations, including Stichting Fairtrade Gemeente Delft, Stichting Stedenband Delft-Estelí, Buurttuin Voorhof and Milieudefensie Delft. Since then, Delft4GlobalGoals has been connecting organisations, businesses and residents who want to actively contribute to a better city and world.

The organisation focuses on raising awareness of the Global Goals and supporting initiatives in Delft that contribute to them. They do this by stimulating cooperation, organising projects and activities and offering a network in which knowledge and ideas are shared.

With initiatives such as the Delft Water Week, the Cycle Festival and the annual SDG flag weeks, Delft4GlobalGoals makes sustainability visible and accessible to a wide audience. In the coming years, too, the organisation will remain committed to working with partners towards a sustainable future towards 2030.

Delft Waterway

From 22 to 29 March, Delft will be all about water during the Delft Water Week. This week, organised by Stichting De Delfste Waterloop and Stichting Delft4GlobalGoals, starts on World Water Day and brings together various organisations and initiatives around the theme of water.

During the week, there is a broad programme including lectures, excursions, art and activities for young and old. This year's theme, Safety and Resilience, takes centre stage and focuses on how we deal with water in a changing environment.

There is also a focus on topics such as the importance of clean drinking water and water projects worldwide. The week ends with the Delft Water Market, where visitors can find out about various water initiatives in an accessible way.

Delft Water Week shows how important water is in our daily lives and invites everyone to join in and discover more.
