Keep the city clean
Walking through Delft is like being in a painting. Picturesque streets, historic buildings, romantic canals... And what makes this setting even more beautiful? Exactly, a clean and tidy city. So help keep the streets and canals clean during your visit to Delft.
Always dispose of your rubbish neatly. In several places in Delft city centre, you will find smart, compact waste bins that can take extra loads of waste and help prevent overflowing bins. No excuse for leaving anything lying around!
See a mess lying around? Help each other and clean it up. Speak kindly to your companion if he or she forgets their rubbish. Sometimes a little help is needed!
Want to go one step further? Then go out with a litter picker - alone or perhaps together. Then turn it into a fun outing: challenge each other, whoever collects the most plastic wins! Good for the city and for your mood.

In Delft, we are proud of our historic canals. Every day, many people take to the waters of Delft by canal boat, private boat, sup or canoe, but most of all, the canals provide beautiful pictures. To ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy the canals as we do now, it is important to keep them clean. The canal is definitely not a place to throw away litter!
So use the facilities to dispose of your waste and help a little extra by occasionally clearing the canals of rubbish. For example, take a bag or bucket with you when you go out on the water and pick up some litter here and there along the way.
