Ronald de Niet is the proud entrepreneur of Heinen Delfts Blauw and he is happy to tell you more about his business and why you should buy local in Delft!

My name is Ronald de Niet. At Heinen Delfts Blauw Blauw, I am responsible for the shops in the Netherlands. Besides the shops in Delft, we also have shops in Amsterdam, Volendam, as well as on Curacao, Bonaire and in the US. For me, there is nothing more fun than making people happy and we do that with our beautiful decorative products.

 

Why did you start your own business in Delft?
Heinen Delfts Blauw is a family business. Jaap Heinen started 50 years ago. He turned his hobby into his profession. Meanwhile, Jaap's son, Jorrit, runs the company. We make all our products ourselves, the pottery for the artisanal hand-painted products are made at our location in Putten. We have plate painters working in Delft and in Putten. Souvenirs and modern tableware are made in our own factory in China.

What do you like best about being a local entrepreneur in the city of Delft?
We obviously belong in Delft with our products. There is no other way. The bond with the other entrepreneurs is friendly and that also radiates to our customers.

What makes your product and/or service unique for Delft residents and visitors compared to what other big brands/chains offer?
Every Delft resident should of course have something Delft blue in their home. And if you, as a Delft resident, want to give away a present, a product from our collection is almost a "nobrainer". The beauty of our collection is that we have adapted it to the tastes of the Dutch public.

How do you collaborate with other local entrepreneurs in Delft?
The best collaboration we had was in our Conceptstore on the Hippolytusbuurt. This is where we shared the premises with Bakker Van Maanen. Unfortunately, due to a fire, we have been closed there for nine months.

If you could give one message to Delft residents and visitors about local shopping, what would you tell them?
You can often find the most original gifts at local retailers.

Definitely visit Just Fish. A beautiful new fish shop/lunchroom.
